Personal Branding Shoot with Podcaster Retail Expert Natalie Berg | Central London
One of the things I love about my job is that it enables me to work with lots of different people and industries. I enjoy learning and widening my horizons and so it was rally interesting to me to work with Natalie from NBK Retail. She is a retail analyst, author, strategist and host of the Retail Disrupted podcast. She got in touch because her photos where outdated and didn’t reflect where she was in her career.
What inspires you work-wise at the moment?
Being part of an industry that is transforming at such a rapid pace. The only constant in retail is change. From the pandemic to the cost-of-living crisis to the many tech advances that are revolutionising our shopping experiences, it's hugely inspiring to play a role in reshaping the retail industry.
Natalie delivers valuable insights on the trends shaping the global retail sector, with a particular focus on the convergence of physical and digital commerce. She is passionate about how retailers can enhance the customer experience and has co-authored two books on retail. Her latest book, Amazon: How the World’s Most Relentless Retailer Will Continue to Revolutionize Commerce, has been translated into 17 languages.
Insightful, on-the-pulse, well connected
After we had a chat and got to know each other a little bit more, which included her answering a questionnaire about her business and what her personal branding photos should convey, we decided on 2 shooting locations that would best work for her brand identity - the Southbank and Regent’s Street/Oxford Circus/Carnaby Street.
Natalie helps her clients navigate the trends and forces shaping the global retail industry, so going to the biggest street filled with retailers was kind of a no-brainer. She is also a successful podcaster in the retail field, as well as an objective TV and radio commentator with regular appearances on the BBC, Bloomberg and Sky News. On top of that, she writes a guest column for Retail Week and Forbes. So there was a lot of ground to cover to tell her story in photos, which is why we started our branding photo shoot at the Southbank.
There we could showcase the media side of her business, using things like her laptop, notebook and podcast microphone.
I immensely enjoyed connecting with Natalie before and during our session. It’s always such a great experience when you just click with your client and time flies by, which was the case during our personal branding photoshoot.
